UV printing is an ideal solution when graphics are to perform their function for years without any problems. The average durability of the print made in solvent technology to weather conditions is 3 to 5 years, while the durability of UV printing is measured by decades. This is of course due to the way the inks are cured: UV radiation, which generally causes problems in printing, to cure the UV inks – on the contrary – it is absolutely necessary. Therefore, UV printing in polygraphy means savings in the long run due to the lack of necessity to replace fading graphics.
Printing on boards or printing on vinyl film? Choosing a substrate and the specifics of advertising installation
The choice between printing on rigid materials and applying self-adhesive film is rarely based on the printing technology itself – all printing technologies offered by B52 guarantee long-term colour durability on both hard panels and flexible vinyl. Key factors include the installation location, the technical condition of the display, the planned display time, and the potential need to remove or replace the graphics.
printing on vinyl films with gluing: the most effective choice
Self-adhesive film has been the most popular medium for window advertising for years. Why?
- Financial benefits: Vinyl printing, even with professional gluing, remains a cheaper solution than the production and installation of rigid boards. It’s the most budget-friendly way to achieve high-quality, large-format advertising.
- A wealth of options: Only film offers access to unique visual effects. No board can replace OWV film (visibility from the inside), frosted film (intimacy and elegance), or coloured stained glass film.
- Perfect fit: On smooth display cases, including glass, film looks unrivaled – creating a perfectly flat surface with graphics, without protruding edges or visible fasteners.
printing on boards (PVC, Dibond): a solution for special tasks
We choose boards when technical conditions prevent traditional gluing or when a specific removal method is a priority.
- Concealing imperfections: If the surface is uneven, scratched, or damaged, the rigid panel acts as a “new facade”, completely concealing surface imperfections.
- Clean removal without adhesive residue: Screw-on installation allows for instant removal of the sign. If the panels are screw-mounted, only small holes remain in the profiles after unscrewing the panel, eliminating the need to remove adhesive residue or re-plaster the wall.
